Transfer to the airport. Flight early to Arequipa departure around 06:00 am in order to have more time in Arequipa to explore the city. Private city tour in Arequipa. Overnight in Arequipa.

ImageDay 4: Arequipa/Cuzco 

Departure from Lima city to Cusco. Upon arrival reception, assistance and transfer to the hotel. Visitors should take a short rest in order to adjust to altitude. Afternoon tour of the city visiting the Koricancha Temple and the Cathedral. Continue to the surrounding ruins: the fortress Sacsayhuaman overlooking the city, Kenko, Puca-Pucara and Tambomachay ruins. Overnight in Cuzco.

 

ImageDay 5: Cuzco/Sacred Valley/Aguas Calientes

Breakfast in the hotel. Guided visit to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Just an hour’s drive from Cuzco, the Urubamba Valley, or Sacred Valley of the Incas, is a setting of picturesque communities, impressive terraces and many important archaeological sites. Dominated by the imposing peaks of the Vilcanota mountain range, the valley ahs been the storehouse for agricultural products for the city of Cuzco since Inca times, and today is famous for its corn with the largest kernels in the world. The valley includes the area between the Inca communities of Pisac and Ollantaytambo.  Return to Cuzco around 17:00 hrs.  Lunch included. Catch the afternoon train for a full day tour of Machu Picchu, the "Lost City of the Incas". The city of Machu Picchu is the most important tourist attraction of Cuzco. Overnight in Aguas Calientes.

 

ImageDay 6: Machu Picchu/Cuzco

We will take a group tour of Machu Picchu. Rediscovered in 1911 by the American explorer Hiram Bingham, this city is considered to be one of the most extraordinary examples of landscape architecture in the world. The city is situated over 2,300 meters above sea level in the province of Urubamba on a remote mountain top.  From the ruins, there is a magnificent view of the deep gorge of the Urubamba River, surrounded by the steep mountain sides covered in tropical jungle. Lunch Afternoon return to Cuzco and hotel. Overnight in Cuzco.

 

ImageDay 7: Cuzco/Puno

Transfer to the bus station. Tourist bus from Cuzco to Puno. Visit of the tourist sites such as: Andahuaylillas, Rajqui. Puno, is located on the plateau of Collao, on the shores of Lake Titicaca. It was founded in 1668 and is the highest principal Port of the world. Legend has it that Manco Capac, the first Inca, and Mama Ocllo, his sister-wife, emerged from the waters of Lake Titicaca and founded Puno. It is said that the royal couple was sent to build the indigenous Uros, whose descendants live in the famous islands at present. It is found desirable connected to Cuzco either by train, bus or domestic flights. Transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Puno.

 

ImageDay 8: Lake Titicaca

Excursion to Uros and Taquile Indian floating reed islands on Lake Titicaca. Floating Uros Island and Taquile Island. The islands are constructed of the Totora reeds growing along the Lake shore. An hour boat trip takes you to three of the Islands; be prepared for hordes of small children begging you to buy miniature “Balsas”. Island women sell embroidered tapestries. Today visit the Taquile Islands. A 30 hour boat trip takes you to this island community in Lake Titicaca famed for its weaving and knitting; textiles can be purchased from the Island weaving cooperative. Return to Puno around 17:30. Overnight in Puno. 

 

ImageDay 9: Puno/Juliaca/Lima

Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to the airport for departure flight. On the way you will have the opportunity to visit the Sillustani ruins; the visit takes around two hours including traveling time. Sillustani, (35 KMS, from Puno) Circular burial towers or “ Chulpas overlook lake Umayo; Probably built by one of the tribes who ruled the area before Inca domination. Departure from Puno. Arrival in Lima and connecting flight home.
